A Safe Space to Heal and Grow
I see counseling as a process in which you, the client and I, the counselor, develop a relationship of trust in which you feel safe to reveal your needs and vulnerabilities in order that I may help you regain emotional, psychological, and spiritual balance. Together we will define your current challenges and areas for emotional, psychological, and spiritual growth, and together develop specific goals to help you achieve that growth. I view the counseling relationship as a sacred relationship in which all parties involved learn, grow, and heal.
Areas of Expertise
I focus on clients with such issues as trauma, addiction, grief, unresolved anger, boundary setting, communication skills, depression, anxiety, stress, and personality traits. I help you to develop personal breathwork practices to foster connection and spiritual well-being. Spiritual Wellness allows you to develop a set of values that help you seek meaning and purpose. Spirituality can be represented in many ways, for example, through relaxation or religion. But being spiritually well means knowing which resources to use to cope with issues that come up in everyday life.

Services Offered and Clients Served
I approach counseling from a cognitive-behavioral perspective, which means that your patterns of thought and behaviors are explored in order to better understand your issues and their underlying motives, and thus develop healthier thinking and behaviors. Since COVID, my private practice is solely through tele-counseling, which clients are enjoying because of the ability to participate from home and not having to travel. I use Zoom meetings and Calendy.
Testimonial
I met Dr. Ragsdale during the darkest time in my life- a few months after the sudden passing of my life partner. Consumed by grief, I looked for a therapist in desperation and was originally scheduled to meet someone in the same practice, who had to cancel the day of my appointment due to an emergency. Dr. Ragsdale fortuitously happened to have an opening that day, and I began a transformational discovery of mental, physical, and spiritual healing that has journeyed me through the past 7 ½ years of my life. Dr. Ragsdale taught me to love myself again and brought me to a place of healing, peace, and acceptance. Even when I was well past my emotional crisis, I continued my journey of discovery with Dr. Ragsdale, as it helped me understand myself personally and professionally. I share my story to help anyone out there who may have hesitations about trying Dr. Scott Ragsdale’s holistic practice of healing and self-discovery. My experience saved my life and I hope it will be yours.
